Frequently asked questions

Can a transformer convert three phase to single phase and vice-versa?

No, standard transformers are unable to convert three phase to single phase or vice-versa.

There are methods of connecting single phase equipment to a three phase supply, although none of these will provide a perfect load balance across the three phases. The simplest method is to connect a single phase transformer across two phases of the three phase supply, this may be acceptable for low power applications.

Other methods available are Scott-T connected and open delta configurations. Get in touch for to speak to the professionals about your needs.

Are you able to make an exact copy of a failed transformer?

Yes, we are usually able to copy an existing sample with the same electrical characteristics and physical dimensions. Occasionally it may be necessary to send the sample to us for evaluation.

How quickly can you manufacture a custom transformer?

Our lead time is dependent on specification and quantity however if you have an urgent requirement for a one off please get in touch today. We can often manufacture a custom product in 7-10 days or sometimes quicker.

I cannot find the product I require on your website?

Whilst we hold 430 different types of transformer in stock, these are not always suitable for every application. Please get in touch and we will be able to design a custom product for your requirements.
